I grew up in Lake Jackson, Texas and graduated from Brazoswood High School in 1982. My inspiration for being involved in education comes from my mother, who was a high school English and Spanish teacher for many years.
For the past 20 years, I have lived and practiced medicine in Galveston County. My wife of 25 years, Pam was born and raised in Galveston County. Pam and I were married at Moody Methodist on Galveston Island. We have three children who are all young adults now, Miles, Julia, and Christian. I have been involved and active in the Galveston County Republican Party and count area Republican legislators like Larry Taylor, Ed Thompson, and Greg and Dennis Bonnen as friends and confidants.
I have proudly served on the Friendswood ISD Board of Trustees since 2008. In 2013 I was the first Board member in FISD history to be chosen for, and complete the Master Trustee designation through the LeadershipTASB program. This is a program that shows select Board members from across Texas examples of how things should be done, as well as how they should not be done. This experience opened my eyes to the real need for improving educational opportunities and choice for parents and children throughout Texas.
The Friendswood ISD Board was also recently awarded the designation of Honor Board for the greater Houston area. Overall, I feel my life experiences have well positioned me to promote increased opportunities and choice for the parents, children, and communities of our district.
